A young anthropologist and a trio of fire artists head to Black Rock Desert in Nevada where more than 40,000 people gather every year to experience Burning Man. This festival is a peculiar one, where strange talents and bartering take the place of monetary exchange, and where creation, art and performance are omnipresent. When the event comes to a close, the city disappears without a trace.
Encountering Burning Man examines this temporary society and its inner workings – a probing look that encourages viewers to question the mainstream culture in which they live.
